TCU vs. Baylor: This is the first Friday Night Football between two relevant teams ( TCU and Baylor ) with a prayer of being competitive. Baylor Vs TCU is become a kicking game all of a sudden as the Baylor Bears and TCU Horned Frogs march toward a nail-biting finish. After three and a half quarters of non-stop touchdowns and end-to-end action, both teams are relying on special teams, and this has heartbreak written all over it.
TCU brings back just 10 starters from last season, which make it hard to believe the Horned Frogs will be able to match their 41.6 points and 477 yards of offense per game. The strength of TCU came in the running game, and leading rusher, Ed Wesley is back to lead the offense. On defense, TCU was dominant, allowing just 12 points and 228 yards per game.
Baylor has 15 starters back this season from an offense that was quite productive, averaging 31.2 points and 475 yards per game in 2010. The Bears were balanced, but lose their top rusher from last season. Quarterback Robert Griffin II is back. He threw for 3,501 yards and 22 touchdowns in 2010. Defensively, Baylor allowed 30.5 points and 435 yards per game, including 170 yards on the ground.
TCU had won an FBS-best 25 consecutive regular-season games, overcome a 47-23 deficit in the fourth quarter to briefly take the lead. New starting quarterback Casey Pachall threw three touchdowns passes in the rally and a fumble by Bears quarterback Robert Griffin set up a go-ahead 27-yard field goal by Ross Evans, who earlier missed twice from behind 40 yards. But Baylor hadn’t beaten a ranked team since 2004, then went 60 yards in 11 plays — including Griffin’s 15-yard catch from Kendall Wright on a third-and-10 — to set up Jones.
If TCU has any hope of having another special season, they will have to come out and set the tone at the start of the second half. You know Baylor won’t quit, as this could be a season-altering win, even if it’s only the first week.
